Canterbury Trails provides an exclusive private guiding service that enables our guests to experience the very best of New Zealand. Our carefully planned itineraries are tailored to the guests' individual wishes and allows the time and flexibility to adapt to the individual's interests.

Creating a tour that takes our guests where they want to go and including the magical places that we know so well, we can show the beauty and heritage of this incredible country. Our tours encompass the things that make New Zealand unique - the natural history, the beauty and the activities - such as the nature walks through primeval forests, walking on a glacier, canoeing on pristine rivers or visiting a sheep station! Being personally escorted, our tours also include a full and informative commentary.

Accommodation...

For accommodation on our tours, we choose the best in lodges, small hotels, homestays and farmstays. These are carefully chosen on their quality, the hospitality of the hosts and the relaxed, cosy and friendly feel of the lodge, farm or homestay. We feel that the accommodation adds to the tour experience and is more than "just a place to stay!"

How do we travel?...

We use our own fleet of specialized and dedicated tour vehicles. All of our tour vehicles are extremely well appointed and comfortable and feature individual seating, air conditioning, PA/stereo systems, fridges and all necessary picnic requisites. Other onboard items are binoculars, reference books and maps for the guests' referral.

And to make the tours even more unique and memorable, we include delicious morning and afternoon teas and full service picnic lunches served with NZ wine, enjoyed at some of the most beautiful and magical places which NZ has to offer!
